A deep release class designed to relax, de-stress and rejuvenate you at every level. Slower than a dynamic practice, but still challenging, with more of an emphasis on deep stretches, alignment and mindful breathing. A mixed level class, beginners can take advantage of the slower pace to build their awareness and skills whilst more experienced practitioners can deepen their practice. With an easy chilled out feel, these hatha yoga classes are a great place to get to understand core yoga asanas (postures) and to consciously take our practice off the mat into our daily lives.

Kanwal has been teaching yoga since 2010. She was drawn to yoga as a way of keeping a centre of gravity whilst doing a busy job working on women’s and girls’ human rights overseas. Sensing that there was more to yoga than simply ‘keeping fit’ she was drawn to the connection between the mind, body and spirit. She explored a range of yoga styles and eventually seeking further exploration she embarked on a teacher training course with Yogahaven, which follows the teachings of Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. She currently teaches at ZenYoga in Camberwell, London and is registered with the Independent Yoga Network (200 hr).

Kanwal’s yoga workshop is part of the Madras Café Family stage with the fantastic Madras Café Unlocked.

About Madras Café Unlocked

As a result of COVID-19, WOMAD festival 2020 has been cancelled which has a huge impact on Madras Café and AVI. We launch our five ‘stages’: Madras Café Family, Madras Boombox, Food for Thought, Partnerships & Solidarity and our Exhibition: Food for Justice and Peace on the 24th, 25th & 26th of July and events will run throughout the summer up to 26th September, when we conclude with in International meal in support of Jai Jagat 2020.
