Walk in solidarity with thousands of women across rural India who are striving to create better lives for themselves and their communities.
Now in its 22nd year, Walk for Women is a meaningful annual fundraising event supporting Action Village India’s work with women in rural India. Over the years, this walk has become a powerful tradition — a moment to come together for something that matters: equality, opportunity, and dignity for women.
This year, the walk is raising funds for three inspiring women-led initiatives:
Girls’ Education in Bihar & Jharkhand
Helping 1,100 girls stay in school by covering fees, supplies, uniforms, and tutoring — while engaging families and communities to break cycles of early marriage and dropout.
Livelihood & Ecological Resilience in Odisha
Supporting women around Chilika Lake to form Self-Help Groups, start small enterprises, and lead ecological restoration efforts that protect their environment and futures.
Empowering Indigenous Women in Madhya Pradesh
Backing women’s self-reliance through skills training, peer networks, and climate resilience education — helping them generate income and lead change in their communities.
Every pound makes a difference:
£30: Covers a girl’s school fees or stationery for a year
£40: Funds a month of learning materials for a tuition centre
£50: Supports a self-help group workshop on accessing government schemes
£60: Funds a gender awareness workshop in a local community
£90: Covers a stipend for a woman training as a beauty technician
£100: Helps a household launch a small income-generating activity
£150: Places a computer in a digital literacy centre
These are real, lasting changes — and they happen when we walk together.
The walk will take approximately 2–3 hours (around 5 miles), making it suitable for enthusiastic walkers of all ages. Afterward, we’ll enjoy a relaxed community picnic — a chance to share food, stories, and reflect on the incredible work being done across rural India.
