Fundraising Appeal: Celebrating 21 Years of Walk for Women

Join Us in Celebrating 21 Years of Empowering Women and Girls in Rural India!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

This year marks a momentous occasion as we celebrate 21 years of our Walk for Women, a remarkable journey, run by Action Village India trustee, Pallavi.  Through this appeal, we are trying to involve as many people as possible from within our community of Action Village India and, hopefully, new friends, in recognising the 21 years of support towards promoting girl’s education and gender equality in rural India.

Walk for Women is dedicated to supporting marginalised communities in rural India. Since its inception, this event has grown from a small gathering to a much-loved annual event.  Covid didn’t stop it…the pandemic only served to make it an event that was honoured by supporters further afield than the home venue of Virginia Water!

Over the past two decades, the unwavering support of Walk for Women has enabled us to:

  • Empower Women: women and girls have gained access to education, vocational training, and leadership opportunities, transforming their lives and those of their families.
  • Enhance Health and Well-being: Vital health services have reached countless women and girls, improving their quality of life.
  • Strengthen Women’s Voices and Rights by promoting women’s leadership and political participation in the local rural governance.
  • Promote Economic Independence: Through a variety of initiatives and skill-building opportunities, women have been able to dream of, and achieve, financial independence.
  • Build Stronger Communities: Education and awareness programmes have fostered a culture of inclusivity and respect, breaking down barriers and challenging harmful stereotypes.

As we celebrate this significant milestone, we invite you to join us in continuing this vital work.

Our goal this year is to raise £10,000, which will be dedicated to expanding the work that Walk for Women supports, and reaching even more women and girls in need. Your generous contribution will directly impact the lives of those who need it most, providing them with the tools and opportunities to build a brighter future.

Cause: Promoting equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities for all women and girls in rural India so they can enjoy the same status and respect in society, and can take advantage of the same opportunities to make choices about their lives, and have the same amount of power to share the outcomes of these choices.

Here’s how you can help:

Donate: Every amount counts. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.

Participate: Join us for this year’s Walk for Women event. Whether you walk at Virginia Water, or wherever you are in the world, your involvement is crucial.

If you’d like to hold your own event, it can be on the day or a date of your choosing.  Friends can get together to walk in solidarity for the women we support in rural India.  Donations can be collected on the day or via the Just Giving Campaign. Your walk doesn’t have to be on the same day at Pallavi’s Virginia Water Walk, you can hold it at any time and place that suits you.

You can also setup other fundraising events to raise funds for this cause and to support 21 years of Walk for Women. We are happy to work around the thematic area to give ideas to our supporters. This appeal runs until Christmas this year.

Join Pallavi's walk on Saturday 6th July 2024

Spread the Word: Share our mission with your friends, family, and social networks. The more people we reach, the greater our impact.

Together, we can continue to change lives and create lasting change in rural India. Your support is invaluable, and with your help, we can achieve even greater things in the years to come.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. Let’s make this 21st anniversary our most impactful yet!

Warm wishes,

Action Village India
