Community

The exhibition during 2019s Madras Café at WOMAD was centred around the theme of ‘Community’ and fittingly, was a creative collaboration between Action Village India (AVI) and the Madras Café. Community is something that runs through the heart of AVIs work and its partnerships; it was perfectly captured in the newspaper exhibition showcased on the walls of the Madras Café tent at WOMAD 2019.

Inside the bustling tent, pages from the paper were spread along the tables for diners to peruse as they enjoyed delicious food prepared by the Madras Café. The articles included many topics connecting to projects supported by AVI, such as women’s rights, education and land rights which all related back to the central theme of community.
