I invite you to join me for an hour of gentle movement and yoga – yoga inspired by the late Vanda Scaravelli. Being present and aware throughout, we will undo the tense and tighter areas of our bodies with gentle movements; rediscover the connections between the breath, gravity, and the spine; and, as we grow roots down to the earth beneath, the body will remain light and spacious, creating the conditions to move more freely. Join me on this journey of discovery, whether a beginner or experienced – everyone is welcome. Just bring yourself and an open mind!

I have been practising Scaravelli inspired yoga for 23 years and teaching for ten, currently online. I love this practice. I feel freer in my body, more aware, more alive. I became an Action Village India (AVI) supporter some years ago and was also a trustee and volunteer, sometimes with AVI at Madras Café! In January, I visited AVI’s partners’ projects to see how local farmers in Tamil Nadu were successfully mitigating the effects of climate change. I am currently Secretary to Jai Jagat 2020 UK, a group that supports Ekta Parishad (AVI’s partner) and Jai Jagat.

This Gentle Movement and Yoga session is part of the Madras Café Family stage with the fantastic Madras Café Unlocked.

About Madras Café Unlocked

As a result of COVID-19, WOMAD festival 2020 has been cancelled which has a huge impact on Madras Café and AVI. This is normally a key fundraising event and opportunity to raise awareness about AVI’s solidarity with rural communities across India. Our re-imagined event, Madras Café Unlocked brings you a summer of online content in support of Action Village India and partners. We launch our five ‘stages’: Madras Café Family, Madras Boombox, Food for Thought, Partnerships & Solidarity and our Exhibition: Food for Justice and Peace on the 24th, 25th & 26th of July and events will run throughout the summer up to 26th September, when we conclude with an International meal in support of Jai Jagat 2020.
